On our way to school this morning the girls saw my cross in the car that I had gotten over the weekend. They both got really excited and started asking were did I get. Kevin had explained to the girls that mommy was going away for a few days to learn more about Jesus. As they were asking me their questions Lacey all of a sudden asked me "Mommy, did you see God?" She said it as if she if it was someone she saw all the time, like no big deal. I was caught off guard for just a moment...and then I replied "Yeah, I sure did see God baby."
It's amazing what we discover when we finally slow down, look and just listen. Maybe you should try it too? You might be surprised at what you find.

Revived and Rested
I returned from Simpsonwood this afternoon. It was definitely a much needed break. I feel refreshed and revived. Yesterday I sat by the Chattahoochee River for almost two hours taking in the sounds and sights of nature. It felt so good to be by myself with my thoughts. (That is something which I don't get much of.) I learned even more about myself on this retreat compared to the one last spring.
As I was walking through the woods to sit by the river all of a sudden I came across two deer on my path. I was just as surprised as they were, we both just stopped dead in our tracks and watched one another. They were so quiet and peaceful looking. Then after what seemed like ten minutes they headed off into the woods. Later as I was sitting by the Chattahoochee I watched six Canadian geese swim up to where I was and start eating fish. Something else that I didn't even notice till later was a tiny little spider had taken up residence beside me spinning her web. It was so wonderful. I like to imagine that might have been what the garden of Eden was like crawling with life, peace and serenity. Something else that had an effect on me was the prayer Labryinth, I walked it twice while I was there. It's a path made from rocks and it reminded me of our journey in life with all the twists and turns we experience. We each must remember that we learn through our experiences and to enjoy our journeys for it is those things that make us who we are.

My Boyfriend...Patrick Dempsey
The funniest thing happened at school today. I went to get Lela from school this afternoon and her teacher and I were talking about how she was doing in school. I asked Miss Josie this because my daughter rarely fills me in on what is going on at school, something she has done ever since she has started. Well, we were talking and she told me that in class they were talking about the movie Enchanted. For those of you who don't know, Patrick Dempsey is one of the stars in it. Well, Miss Josie said that in the middle of the discussion Lela proceeds to tell her, "my mommy's boyfriend is in that movie." At first Josie said that she was taken back by it because she knows that I'm married, then she realized exactly what Lela meant. We both started laughing because I was like a girl has gotta dream.....

Going To The Fair
We went to the fair this evening. The girls had a blast! Lela absolutely loved the fun house, she went through it like 20 times or so it seemed. Lacey rode the Ferris wheel with Daddy and kept telling him, "this is not fun at all!" I couldn't help but laugh. Lucky us, we came home with a new pet....a goldfish. The girls have named it Coco? I'll keep you updated on the newest member of the Daniell Household.

I Survived! The Consignment Sale Is Over!
Yeah! Today was possibly the longest day of my entire life. I was at school from 7:30 this morning until about 4:00 this afternoon working the sale. Saturday is half off day, so it was pretty crazy. The school did great though, we made $58,400 in two and a half days which just blows my mind. Everything was going great this afternoon until we started breaking down the racks and I got my finger caught and almost severed it in two. Right now all I can feel is throbbing pain in my middle finger. Ouch!
I did buy the girls a few things for the fall/winter season. Lacey more so than Lela. Lacey is easier to please when it comes to how she dresses verus her older sister. Lela and I go head to head when picking out her clothes. I have learned the hard way that she needs to pick them out and not me. Can you believe she is only five and already has an opinion on her way of dress....lucky me?

National Talk Like A Pirate Day?
Well, today Lela's class is celebrating National Talk Like A Pirate Day. Did you even know that was a holiday? I had not a clue until the other day when a note came home from school saying that she was suppose to dress like a pirate on Friday in celebration of the event. From what her teacher told me they were making maps, eye patches, going looking for buried treasure, etc. I never had this much fun in school. Lela just loves it!!! And not to mention, she is learning quite a lot. Her teachers are awesome! We love Miss Josie and Miss Patty!

Busy Week Ahead
I sitting here enjoying the peace and quiet. I almost dread getting up and trying to get ready for today because I know what lies ahead the rest of the week. This week at school is our Annual Consignment Sale, and I'm on the committee. We have two sales a year - one in the fall and then one in the spring. The committee does the majority of the work, while we get the parents to help us. But as everyone knows it doesn't always work out that way. It's a great fundraiser for the school! Just a lot of work involved and the girls end spending a lot of time at school because of it. (Mother's guilt.) In fact today, we start setting up. By the time Saturday rolls around, I will have worked over 25 hours setting up, taking down, working, etc. But for all the time involved it's fun! This year I'm been told we have over 550 consignors....talk about a lot stuff!!!
Next week I will get a much needed break....I'm headed to Simpsonwood with some of the girls from church for a Women's Retreat. Yeah!!!! I so can't wait.

"Teddy"
On Friday, Lela brought "Teddy" home from school. "Teddy" is a brown bear that is suppose to spend the weekend with us and then we write a story of what we did with "Teddy." (In a nutshell homework for mom.) I just finished writing his story, and talk about stressful. I had forgotten how much I didn't like creative writing. Lela did help by telling me what "Teddy" did. The only problem was she wanted everyone to know every little detail possible. I can't wait to see what my grade is.
On another note, Lacey even had homework this weekend. She was suppose to trace her name five times. Talk about not wanting to help! Oh goodness, did she show us her temper when I tried to assist. Forget that! She kept telling me Miss Cynthia and Miss Jodi don't help me, leave me alone....so I did. I can't wait to see what her grade is.

Newnan Cougars
I'm moving pretty slow today. Yesterday, my friend Ami and I decided to try a new class at the Y. It was basically a military style boot camp for an hour. I told her during class that I felt like a contestant on the Biggest Loser, I have never and I repeat never worked out that hard in my life!! It was GREAT!! We're going back Monday to be tortured again. Just to give you a glimpse of what we did, we had to run up and down the stairs 20 times....no, I didn't do 20. I did 10, which I didn't think was bad for somebody who had never done that before. My legs are so sore. It was AWESOME!!!
Last night, we made a trip to see the Newnan Cougars play football. My how times have changed. I can remember being in high school and traveling to Newnan to play the Cougars and now here I am sitting on the home side cheering them on. Talk about fun!!! I had forgotten how much fun high school football games are especially here Newnan. Newnan is currently ranked as one of the top five football teams in the state, so it always helps to have a winning team.
An observation I made last night is football is king here in Newnan. Here is my top five list of other things I noticed:
1. Talk about big boys, they grow some big boys here.
2. The football program is as thick as a high school yearbook.
3. At one point I thought we were at a college football game, the cheerleaders were throwing "little footballs" into the stands.
4. They sell tshirts, baseball caps, jackets, etc. with Newnan Football, Newnan Cougars printed all over them.
5. You can purchase season tickets(?)

Lacey's 3 Year Old Checkup
Lacey had her 3 year old well check appointment, yesterday. Comes to find out the girl is 37" tall (she is actually 2 1/2" taller than her older sister was at this age) and weighs a mere 26.2 lbs (Lela weighed 25 lbs). It's funny when I look at her because I think of her as being smaller than Lela but in reality she is bigger. She also had to get a shot yesterday, which I had forgotten about. Last year we decided to have both of the girls vaccinated for Hepatitis A which at the time was voluntary (I think), so Lacey got her second round of it. I had prepared for the worst because as a child and even today getting a shot is a "big deal" and I make a "big deal" about it. I'm a totally baby about the whole process, period. Well, Lacey like her sister didn't cry, didn't make a noise, nothing! I was so proud of her! I told her, "Lacey, Mommy is so proud of you. You didn't even cry when you got your boo boo." Her response was, "Yeah, I got a shot! I'm gonna tell Lela that I got a shot and I didn't cry." I was laughing because she acted like that was the greatest thing getting a shot. When we picked Lela up from school she was showing "Miss Josie" and "Miss Patty" where exactly she had gotten her shot and was telling them the story. In fact, the band-aid was already removed and she was looking for just the right spot where the needle went it. (Lela on the other hand I think wore her band-aid for at least two days.....)

Breaking News....
I totally forgot to put this in the blog last week. Lela lost another tooth! Yes, she offically has no front teeth at the moment. She was extremely excited about the tooth fairy's return visit because she wanted more money. And how much did the tooth fairy leave you ask? Five dollars.

Surviving Our First Week
First week of school is done and over with...YEAH! Everyone seems to be adjusting to having to get up early and out the door.
Lela is making the transition this year to having homework. All is well, if she would just take her time and not rush through it. I find that to be her downfall. She just wants it done whether it's right or not. (And we have how many more years of this?)She loves her teachers (and so do I), and loves her friends. There are 12 kids in her class - 9 girls and 3 boys. Talk about estrogen.
Lacey actually loves going to school, too! I'm shocked because she is such a "mommy's girl" who doesn't like it when I leave her and she always wants her "baby" with her. This summer we had many discussions about "baby" staying home with Mommy. Lacey would tell me that "baby" was going to school, too. Her teacher and I discussed the situation and we agreed that "baby" could come to school but she had to stay in Lacey's school bag. Well, I'm happy to report "baby" has yet to even make it out of the car. YEAH!! Talk about accomplishment. I'm so proud of her. What a big girl she is!!!

First Day of School
School has finally started!!!! We made through. Lela's first day of Kindergarten was yesterday and today was Lacey's first day of 3 year old preschool. Everyone had fun! When I went to pick them up, Lacey got in the car crying because she wanted me and Lela was all smiles. I asked Lacey if she had fun. She answered in between her tears, "Yeah!" Poor thing, I think she was just exhausted.
