am i on survivor?

well...not exactly but that's what went through my head a couple of times as we made our way to the len foote hike inn at amicalola falls. we had great time! we hiked 5 miles up in 2 hours and 20 minutes and around 2 hours coming back down. coming back down was a little tricky do to the fact it was raining and the ground was pretty soaked. lots of slippery leaves and rocks to maneuver around.

talk about a cool little inn, that's exactly what i thought about it! it was built in 1998 definitely ahead of its time because its "green" if you know what i mean. very eco-friendly from the design of the inn to the bath house to the sleeping quarters all the way to the way the food was served.

my favorite thing they told us was if you put any food on your plate you needed to eat it. waste not want not! what they would do is after breakfast or dinner, any food left on your plate was scraped into a bowl and weighed. if there was more than 5ozs. a frowny face was written on the board; if there was less than 5 ozs. a happy face. the goal obviously was a happy face! last night at dinner, we got a frowny face. we were not happy and decided that one of the little boys refused to eat his vegetables...gee thanks. this morning, we were very afraid the same thing was going to happen, but surprisely enough we got a happy face...yeah!

i was really sorry that our stay was a quick one, but reality was calling. wendy wanted us all to do this for her 35th birthday and i feel very privileged to have been apart of it. i will say that for being 38 years of age i feel really good! maybe this needs to be a yearly trip, that way we can gauge how are bodies are aging? hum? maybe i need to rethink that one?

if you would like read more, check out wendy's blog - the fox family.
