happy birthday to me

i so can't believe that july is already here not to mention that i turned 38 years old today. wow! the big 40 is definitely fast approaching and somedays i feel like it more than others. i love birthdays because its the one day of the year that you and you alone get the opportunity to feel appreciated and loved - honored for just being yourself. now granted this is something we should do everyday for others, but birthdays i think are meant to remind us that we are special and there is no one else like us.




kevin and the girls gave me a super special card that they had recorded "i love you" on it. it brought tears to my eyes and made me smile. talk about priceless. i love it!!

my dear mother took me and lacey to a wonderful lunch at the city cafe. (lela had gone to art camp for the day, so i was minus one less child.) i had never been here before so it was nice getting to try something new. we all seemed to have a good time sitting outside on the patio as the ceiling fans spun around creating a nice breeze. my absolute favorite part of this place - the dessert counter. yes, i'm all about the dessert plain and simple. after lunch we walked up to the counter to pick something out. (lela's art camp was just for a few hours and i had to get back.) i walked up to the counter and had such a hard time deciding that i ended up getting a dozen thumbprint cookies to go. they are probably one of my all time favorite cookies in the entire world with their yummy frosting right in the middle. scrumptious.

kevin ended up spending the day at the hospital. his grandmother is very ill and his mother had had surgery scheduled. so, we were on the phone back and forth the majority of the day.

i received numerous phone calls and FB messages through out the day which ultimately makes for a "happy birthday!"
