we are in the full throngs of winter break

and i'm so ready for the girls to return to school. they are driving each other crazy not mention myself. help!!! it can only get better, right? it seems like we have so much going on but then at the same time it seems as if nothing is happening.

today, is ash wednesday and marks the beginning of the advent season. i'm still trying to figure out what i'm giving up for the next 40 days...any suggestions? i have all these ideas floating in my head but they all seem silly and so ineffective. i have searched a few websites and they haven't been much help - tv? cursing? meat? alcohol? yeah....not a sacrifice here. this evening we will be attending the ash wednesday service at church as a family. i'm really looking forward to it because last year it definitely had an impact on me. i've been explaining to the girls that they will have a cross of ashes placed on their foreheads. i wish you could see the look on their faces trying to explain that one....

this afternoon, we are taking the girls on a field trip. lol, if you can imagine that? we are going to the food pantry here in newnan to do some volunteer work. kevin has actually been a few times in the past but it will be a first for me and the girls. there is no telling if this will be good experience for them or one that involves them complaining because they are having to work. i will definitely keep you posted.

for valentine's the girls got some money that somehow was burning a hole in their pocket. imagine that? well, they somehow seemed to find something to spend it on despite all the "junk" they already have. zhu zhu pets? bascially, they are interactive hamsters that come with all these accessories just like the real thing. despite the annoying sounds they make i definitely like them because there is no mess to clean up...yeah! talk about the perfect pet!
