friday fun - fernbank museum of natural history

it seems we are developing a friday trend, where we take some type of field trip and yesterday it seems was no exception. we surprised the girls with lunch at mary mac's and then a trip down the street to the fernbank museum of natural history. my intentions were we would go the museum and then catch an imax movie, but as usual the girls had other ideas of their own. it was then and there i decided to call our trip "nightmare at the museum." lol.

we had prepared the girls that we would be seeing dinosaurs and they were really excited about seeing them, but i still don't think they quite got the idea that these animals lived here on the earth at one time, oh well does it really matter? we looked at dinosaurs, different "stuffed" animals and even looked at different cultures around the world. i found this exhibit to be the most interesting. they had jewelry, clothing, articles of faith, etc. all from different cultures around the world. it was just too cool for words. i have always found that stuff to be so interesting. maybe i should have majored in archeology instead of art?

when we brought up the idea of seeing an imax movie not one but both of the girls said they didn't want to go. are you kidding? they love going to the movies, what's up with this? oh well, needless to say we skipped that idea and headed to the hands on part of the museum where the girls went crabbing, camouflaged themselves and even planted and harvested a garden. they really seemed to have a good time. if the weather is pretty next friday, i already have our next outing planned. stay tuned to see where our next adventure lands us....
